Headphones are an excellent companion to isolate us from all the noise and irritating honks that we have to listen while traveling. That’s why we are up again with another comparison of two affordable earphones. Here we are going to find out which one is better, the Skullcandy Smokin Buds 2 or the Sennheiser CX 275s. Both the earphones come under the same price category of Rs 2000 (Approximately $30) and feature almost identical on paper specs. But how they perform in the real world? Let’s find out.

Skullcandy Smokin Buds 2 Vs Sennheiser cx 275s: The Comparison

Both these earphones have been in the market for a long time and hold good up to the customer’s expectations. If we talk about the build quality first, the Skullcandy Smokin Buds have a flat cable that does not tangle so much like the one on the Sennheiser CX 275s. But the cable length on the Sennheiser CX 275s is a bit long, and you will notice the benefits once you will use it with the laptop or desktop. Let’s compare their specifications:

Both the earphones have a slim, lightweight profile. Sennheiser CX 275s cable is fragile and feels like it will tear apart, but it has an excellent tensile strength to withstand day to day jerks. Both the earphones provide decent noise isolation and fit comfortably in your ear canals. But for me, it was Sennheiser CX 275s which feels more comfortable to wear.

But Skullcandy wins in the department of colors. While the CX 275s is available in only one color, black, the Skullcandy Smokin Buds 2 comes in seven colors. Regarding looks, Skullcandy surely looks like a Rs 2000 earphone. Both the headsets get a mic and a remote button to answer/end calls but miss on volume rocker keys. While the mic quality on both the earphones is decent but Skullcandy Smokin Buds 2 mic is positioned at the more practical position.

Moving to the sound quality, if you love the clarity in music and loudness Sennheiser CX 275s is slightly better than the Skullcandy one. Both earphones have bass driven speakers that deliver a good bass response. But the treble part on the CX 275s feels a bit more and sometimes overcome the bass which is not up to my liking. If you are an EDM guy Sennheiser CX 275s might disappoint you and so does the Skullcandy Smokin Buds 2.

They are suitable for casual listening and calls. But for someone whos a bass-head like me, you have to raise the budget a bit more pick something from the Sony XB series earphones to satisfy the love for bass inside you.

You will get to see gold plated 3.5 mm jack on both the earphones; this is a common thing among the headsets of this price category. You will get three pairs of earbuds, small, medium and large no matter which earphone you pick. Sennheiser CX 275s also receives a carry pouch, which I don’t think you will consider as a factor to decide the best one for you. Both the earphones have moisture resistant materials. You can use them in Gym or while jogging without caring about the damage due to sweat. They are resilient but not waterproof so don’t use them in swimming pool or something like that.

It is time to decide on the best one among the Skullcandy Smokin Buds 2 and Sennheiser CX 275s. Everyone has different expectations from their earphones. Like, I can compromise with the tangles and not so colorful design but what I care about is the best sound quality and comfort that I can get in a particular price range. So for me, it is the Sennheiser CX 275s which wins over here. But it does not mean that Skullcandy is not worth the value. It is right and in some parts even better than Sennheiser CX 275s. But overall it is the Sennheiser that comes out as a better choice.
