There is no doubt that both are stylish 5.1 surround-sound home theater speaker system. Both the speakers have their pros and cons. But what matters the most is your requirement. So to help you out, we have written this post based on our side by side comparison of both the home theater systems.

So without wasting any time let’s find out which one is the better option for you.

Procinema 800 Vs Bose Acoustimass 10

Both brands Def Tech and Bose have earned quite an excellent reputation in the audio industry. The Definitive Technology’s Procinema 800 is a robust 5.1 home theater system that is enough for a large size room or hall. It is a six-piece unit consisting of a ProSub800 subwoofer, one ProCenter1000 center speaker, and four ProMonitor satellites.

On the other hand, the Bose Acoustimass 10 Series home theater system is also a six-piece 5.1 channel unit. You will get four direct/reflecting satellites, one center speaker, and one subwoofer. The direct/reflecting speakers provides a powerful sound from a small design.

If we talk about the design and build quality, Bose wins the battle. The rectangularly shaped satellites and center speakers look premium. Moreover, the compact and lightweight design of the speakers enables the user to put them on the walls. The subwoofer on Bose Acoustimass 10 is a bit bigger as compared to the Procinema 800. The Bose Acoustimass 10 subwoofer looks like a desktop CPU cabinet, however, as the design is subjective so, we will leave this decision to you.

Procinema 800 Vs Bose Acoustimass 10 Subwoofer

Moving further to the sound quality, the Definitive Technology Procinema 800 subwoofer has an output of 300 watt RMS for high impact bass. Whereas, the Bose Acoustimass subwoofer can be powered from an amplifier of 10 watts to 200 watts. The Bose Acoustimass 10 subwoofer delivers deep rich bass, but when compared with the Procinema 800 it loses. If you have a large size room or hall, definitely the Procinema 800 would be a better option.

Moreover The Prosub 800 works in the frequency range of 20 Hz to 150 Hz with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. When we talk about the deep, enriched bass, the low-frequency sound comes into the picture. The Bose Acoustimass 10 subwoofer does not go as low as the Prosub 800. That is the reason, the bass on the Prosub 800 is a bit deeper and enriched as compared to the former one.

The Prosub 800 has an 8-inch polymer cone combined with an 8-inch bass radiator that is capable of producing 300 watt RMS output. Whereas in the Bose Acoustimass 10 subwoofer uses two 5.25-inch high-excursion paper cone woofers power with a built-in amplifier that delivers a total of 200 watt RMS sound output.

Procinema 800 Vs Bose Acoustimass 10 Satellites Speakers

Bose Acoustimass 10 comes with direct/reflecting dual cube speakers. This technology helps the four compact speaker arrays to deliver more spacious surround sound. Each speaker features dual 2.5-inch wide-range tweeters. As a result, you get a real lifelike stereo sound from each speaker unit.

While in Def Tech Procinema 800, the four satellites have 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter and 4.5-inch mid/woofer that works in the extended frequency range of 57 Hz to 30,000 Hz. The satellites have a nominal impedance of 8 ohms and sensitivity of 89 dB.

The satellites on the Bose delivers a more realistic sound as compared to the Procinema 800 satellite speakers. But on the other hand, Procinema 800 speakers handles low frequencies better. These speakers act like the bookshelf speakers. If you love bass, Procinema 800 satellites are again coming as a better option. But if you are more towards the clarity of vocals, Bose Acoustimass 10 series home theater is the one you should look for.

Moving to the center speaker, which plays an important role in the overall feel of your home theater system. The Bose Acoustimass 10 center speaker uses the same dual 2.5-inch wide-range tweeter as the cube arrays. In Def Tech Procinema 800 you get ProCenter 1000 speaker, which has one 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter and dual 4.5-inch mid/woofer. It works in the frequency range of 47 Hz to 30000 Hz. Thus you get ultra-clear vocals, crisp highs, and decent bass that is expected from the satellites of a home theater system. Obviously, the Procenter 1000 is louder and handles low frequencies better than the Bose Acoustimass 10 center unit.

Overall, No doubt both are excellent home theater system. But as the technology is getting advanced day by day, we are more and more competitors in the market with an upgrade in performance and quality. So just having a big brand tag is not enough. You also have to lower the costs and upgrade the quality to match the competition.

If I have to choose between the two, I being slightly towards the bass side would love to buy the Definitive Technology Procinema 800. It is quite bassy and a bit louder than the Bose Acoustimass 10, while the Bose Acoustimass looks more stylish and takes my vote for the clear vocals and crisp highs.
